REACTION

Applied Logic Laboratory continues researches in the field of the diabetes with 15 international partners. The aim of the this year starting project is to develop an integrated long term management of diabetes. The system with the help of clinical monitoring and intervention strategies connects the following parts of diabetes care:

- continuous blood glucose monitoring,

- monitoring and predicting related disease indicators,

- education on lifestyle factors such as obesity and exercise,

- automated closed-loop delivery of insulin.

The communication platform of the project called REACTION is built on an interoberable peer-to-peer service oriented architecture (SOA). All functionalities, including devices, are represented as services and applications consisting of a series of services orchestrated to perform a desired workflow.

The intelligent interoperable platform developed by REACTION will provide integrated, professional, management and therapy services to the diabetic patients and other actors of the care across Europe in different healthcare regimes. Some of these services are:

- professional decision support for in-hospital environment

- safety monitoring for dosage and compliance

- long term management of outpatients in clinical schemes

- care of acute diabetic conditions and

- support for self management and life-style changes for diabetic patients.
